Do you need a special license to shoot a bobcat ? And if not do you have to turn it in?

It is considered small game, so whatever you need to hunt small game with is the requirement, depends on public or private land. You have to fill out paper work or something if you plan on taking it out of state, otherwise I think you are ok.

The only time you need a tag is if you are going to sell the hide where it can go into international trade under CITIES regulations.

FYI, the feds raided Moyles (ID) tannery in spring of 2011. All bobcats sent by owner to be tanned for personal use were confiscated by the Feds if they did not have a CITES tag. I would not let a cat leave my possession without one. You don't know where a taxidermist will send it to be tanned. Good luck getting it back from the Feds once they have it.

Tags are available from your local regional office or local officer free of charge.
