Before all the pro union people on board blast me for this post. Think about how many people are out of jobs and this group is not smart enough to keep theirs.

Does anyone remember "The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company" AKA A&P? The exact same thing happened there when the union got too big for their britches.

Sorry about the job losses but, you've got to know when to fold ! I can see benefits for a union but, as a past member of one, I can also see the downfalls! When you go on strike for some reason....if you count the time you lose and what you wind up getting, you hardly ever make up for your losses!

When the math doesn't work out anymore cuts have to be made. A reasonable person would say "this sucks but I still have a place to work". A union person says "I'd rather shut the whole place down and nobody have a job".
Same crap happened with Peterbilt in Nashville, my dad and his buddies would rather be walking that line than take a small cut in pay and have 80-20 insurance instead of 100%. Peterbilt said we can't keep it the way it is and be profitable. The union said no, so Peterbilt shut it down and moved what they could to Texas. So intead of making a little less money, those people including my dad lost most everything they had. It makes no sense to me.
I hear Wal-Mart hires this time of year and they start at $7-$8 an hour with little benefits. Maybe they can go there?
