beachguy, it's obvious you don't get it and that's fine. You apparently are not alone.
i dont get it?..all i did was reply to the article, "hostess has cut and cut on these people for the past 10 years" and they have. that doesn't make me Jimmy Hoffa.
you need to get that everyone doesn't think like you or believe in the same things as you. theres a whole big world out there thats full of opinions.

I have always found it interesting that when a company posts a profit people he pissed off. I have owned two businesses. One of them I made money and sold for a profit the other I closed and lost a ton of money. So profit is a must. Think of your own self as a business and your weekly earnings is your profit. You either can pay your bills and live off it or you can't. It's the same as a company. So no profit no job on either end.
I don't know how many employees were on strike and lost a job but the union would live to have their monthly dues I am sure.

I work in the Snack Cake industry. I can assure you that the industry as a whole makes only a marginal profit per unit. These are short shelf life products. Most of these products are made to order and must be delivered to stores in a tight time window. Raw materials and transportation costs have increased rapidly over the past two years. The problem is compounded by the buyers at stores demanding low costs. If you can't pass on increased costs you have to absorb them.
Throw a Union in the mix and the profits shrink to a point that it is no longer feasible to remain in business.
