WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Citizens from more than 40 states have filed petitions with the White House seeking to secede from the union, and by Wednesday, seven states had gathered enough signatures to qualify for a response to the largely symbolic protest.
The petitions, which have been signed by a small percentage of state residents, have virtually no chance of succeeding. The United States' bloodiest conflict, the 1861-1865 Civil War, erupted after 11 states withdrew from the union.
The White House has set up a "We the People" page on its website that allows Americans to file petitions on issues of concern. If a petition collects 25,000 signatures, the website says, the administration will review and respond to it.
The petition filed by Texas residents has racked up about 100,000 signatures. Six others from Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have collected 30,000.

Do u think for one second I am afraid of these people. Guess again. As like many, you that preach for chang,e but are never willing to do anything about it . Thank God our founding fathers were not afraid. But then only 3% FOUGHT IN THE WAR FOR FREEDOM FROM Britian.

We don't have to take the fight to them, they will be coming to US.
Unlikely. The indirect approach they have been using has been met with near complete success. Why screw it up by making a direct affront that will rally the populace and develop into a hard resistance?
Right now they have us divided into groups and pitting us against each other. Should someone be stupid enough to take direct action against the government machine, they will be quickly and quietly crushed.
Better to take an indirect approach with multiple alternate goals. For example.
There is no reason to repeal obumblacare if you can invalidate it another way. For example...."gridlock" in the house preventing it from being funded. The law remains but is toothless without any funding to implement it.
The whole "fiscal cliff" is a giant indirect action being played by both sides with multiple goals. Such as ....Cut spending, increase taxes, cut taxes, increase regulations, attack the opponents political capital, slander the opposition, bargain for concessions, get favors for your supporters, punish your opponents supporters, implement more socialism, roll back some measure of socialism, bankrupt the middle class, give tax relief to the middle class...etc.
The progressives have been masterfully playing the indirect game for decades. The community reinvestment act was an indirect time bomb that allowed the liberals to take credit for "helping minorities" while making their banker buddies TRILLIONS, and throwing a giant exploding bag of poop in the laps of their opposition. It also financially damaged a large segment of the lower and middle classes which put more people on the government dole and under their boot.
