I have been training a dog to blood track this season and would like to get a little help on the reporting process. The required process of calling the TWRA Regional office has been very cumbersome to say the least. The 800#'s don't always work, the number sometimes goes to an automated system that kicks me out. When I get a live person I am always having to explain the process of why I'm calling and that the hunting regulations require it. Sometimes I am asked to call a local official, who may or may not be availible and then I have to call the Regional Office back.
So the questions are...what are the best numbers to call where I will get a live person? Can I bypass the 800 #'s and call a particular officer? If I have made every reasonable attempt to contact the TWRA but have not talked to anyone can I proceed with tracking? Is there a number that I can send a text message or email with all the required information if an officer is not available?
A few suggestions I have are; being able to send a text, email or PM on this forum to document the track instead of calling a person. Setting up an online dog tracking check-in site like the big game check-in. Allowing people to annually register or get a confirmation number as a tracking service instead of calling in on individual tracks.
Let me end with the officers that I have talked to have been very professional and helpfull...it has just been hard getting to that point. The easier the process the more likely people will comply with the regulations.
Feel free to contact me to discuss further through this forum or directly by any of the following methods.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Can one of you offer any suggestions or provide some assistance in making the call-in process a little easier? Zero replies in two days is a little discouraging.

I would bypass the 800 numbers and use the direct line numbers into the regional office. After 4:30, use the after hour or poaching hotline numbers.
This forum has no official connection to TWRA, so it is not an appropriate venue for tracking any track activities.

Thank you for the response and I have saved those numbers in my phone as suggested. If for some reason I am unable to get a live person on the phone can I proceed with the track or do I have to wait until I speak with someone? Time is usually of the essence. I fully understand this forum is not an offcial connection to the TWRA. I was only trying to suggest other possible contact alternatives to make the process a little easier and to aid in documenting the required information for blood tracking with a dog. Heck I bet this forum is a great venue for tracking and documenting illegal actives, so it wouldn't be unreasonible to use it for tracking legal activities as well. Again only suggestions to improve the process.

I would not track without logging the call with a TWRA person. To do otherwise opens you up to a potential violation of hunting deer with dogs.

What would be the possibility of him getting some kind of a license or permit from TWRA that allows him to track based on criteria that TWRA establishes and allows him to bypass this problem with calling in, which seems to be a little difficult?

I thought as long as the dog was on the leash and you wasnt carrying a firearm you could track a blood trail anytime. Thats what I was told anyway.
