Hello, If I have a Remington 870 express with an extended magazine tube, can I still duck hunt with it on the gun as long as I put an aftermarket or extended plug in the gun still allowing me to only load three shells? Thanks for your help.

Yes, as long as the gun is only capable of holding three shells total you are good to go.

A wooden dowl that fits just inside the spring would work great.... just round the ends off some so the spring will slide up over it and not get hung up... They are pretty cheap and used to find them in hardware or craft stores.
Actually a piece of the proper diameter cpvc/pvc pipe would work... probably lighter too... just be sure to round off the ends some.
Measure off the entire magazine inside length..... depending on your chamber lengths.... I would start with measuring off 2 3/4" shells or 3" shells if you have them handy. Again depending on your chamber.... you want almost (3) 2 3/4" shells to go in, so if you can also shoot 3" shells, you can get (2) of the 3" shells in the magazine securely.
You don't want to measure off 3" shells and be wrong.... last thing you need would be for the GW to check your mag capacity with a 2 3/4" shell and get (3) inside because you miscalculated the plug lenth off 3" shells.
If you have the plain 870 Express it should only shoot 2 3/4" shells.... if that's the case, just allow for only (2) 2 3/4" shells and cut your plug accordingly..... you won't have to make the adjustments for any other lenght shells.
