We owned the property for years but this was the first season we opted to use the landowner exemption. Now it doesn't seem like the best choice. I guess we will go back to buying sportsman licenses next year.

Again, a call ahead of time to the local officer might give you some peace of mind, or at least let you know that he would issue a citation if he checked you and found you without a license in that situation.
