I'll try to be brief.
Haven't picked up my Savage 7mag since last year. I had three rounds in the removeable clip (stored separately). Put the clip in and all three rounds fired perfect (within 4 inches of each other).
Went to load the clip again and the spring worked but would not click into lower position when I loaded the rounds.
So I loaded them manually into the chamber and let the bolt push them in.
Fisrt shot was a hangfire. Next two the casings were either bulged or bulged/split when fired.
Gun is only 4 y/o and haven't ran more than 4 boxes of ammo through it.
I shoot Rem Core-locked ammo. What I was shooting today was bought last year about this time.
Is this an ammo problem or chamber problem???? I really don't want to shoot this gun again until I get the problems solved.

I didn't mention the bulge is at the belt (?) close to the bottom.

Sounds like bad ammo. I would call remington to see if they have had this report first. Post something in the gun forum too.

I know it's off point, but within 4 inches? Is that with a rest? How far?

Better than I could shoot. Was the ammo that was already in the clip from the same box that didn't do right? I don't think the manual loading should have affected anything either.

Ammo, I am almost certain was from same box.
Trust me, that was really good for me too.
The two shots that had the bulges didn't even hit the paper- who knows if they were low or high.

What do you mean by lower position?

I can push the tray that the rounds set on in the clip down and it will 'click' to keep the rounds from just 'boinging' back out of the clip.

I think leaving those rounds in the clip caused that problem but that's the least of my worries right now.
