I set my alarm to hunt this morning, but I wasn't sure if I'd feel up to going since a friend came over last night to borrow an AR mag and didn't leave til midnight. Anyway, alarm went off at 5, and I walked to the window to see the frost on my front yard. Ahhh, I thought, I better just get some sleep cause I have to do my self-eval at work today.
Then, I had a dream... I grunted a buck into 20 yards and proceeded to miss him with my bow. I grunted again, and once more, the buck headed my way. In my 5-arrow quiver, I have 2 rages and 3 Montecs. I shoot my rages first because I'm more confident in their accuracy. I wasn't picky as to which one I grabbed as it was just 20 yards, so I frantically retrieve another one. I dropped the arrow off of the rest on my second attempt. I reset another arrow and fired. The arrow stuck a bit high, but I was ecstatic. I hadn't fired a shot this season.
I retrieved my arrow to see only white tissue on the back half and sparse blood on the front. I quivered my arrow and headed to mom and dad's house before starting to track him. (Doesn't make sense now; they live 5 hours away.)
I laid my bow in the garage and went inside. When I came back out, ole Infoman was holding my half-bloody arrow and shaking his head. There was a FIELD POINT on my arrow.
Then my alarm went off. The song playing on the radio was:
Jake Owen "The One That Got Away." True story.
