The best thing I've seen in the wife's family gift thing is a flat grill. Probably cost 30-40 from Bed baths and beyond where her sister works. It plugs in the wall. It went around so many times I lost count... But ended up in my hands. That thing is a pancake maker!

If you want to break the rules, but make somebody pretty happy.. get a gag gift. Get something that NOBODY will want to get stuck with. Then inside that gift, stick a nice amount of cash. If you can spring for it, throw $50 or something in there. Don't let anyone know there's cash in there.. and then the "poor person" who gets stuck with it will have a nice laugh when it's all over and you tell them to open it up!
