OK so Ive got a field about 3 acres rectangular between 2 draws that has been bush hogged yearly in the past. The road into the property comes up to the edge of this and we park there and walk to our stands.Deer travel regularly across the narrow side and down into the woods to cross the street to enter the corn field over there. Question, would I be better off letting this space just grow wildwith weeds and trees, incorporationg a few sawtooths along the way or continue to mow and maybe seed itwith clover??The deer regularly bed when they cross the field and over to one side,Im just looking at making it more comphy for mature bucks.I see deer around there crossing every time I hunt,I just want to make it better..

Any way you plant some screening in it to prevent being seen ? Egpytian wheat to start with while white pines or some other evergreen comes in behind that.

Good idea, using a annual screen until the pines come on strong.

I think my question was wrong,I wasnt looking for a screen as if I want a screen Id just park down the hill by the road. The question was do I let the field cover grow up and quit bushhogging it or incorporate more food,as in more fruit trees ,sawtooths, and food plot type foods??The question is food or cover more appealing to attract larger bucks. I already have a food plot thats a beauty and have planted over 400 trees that are doing great,a mixture of sawtooths, other hybrid oaks,40 something 10' caged fruit trees, persimmons ect.The 4 sets of woods I have are thick, they were logged 10 years ago.I enjoy field hunting from tower blinds in the field edges between the woody draws.

Cover is more attractive to mature bucks. If you already have a food plot then I would let it become cover. Do some strip discing this winter so natives grasses and forbs will come in and you will have both food and cover.
