She's had the mixer for years. Do yall have the 50 dollar plastic attachment or the 140 dollar metal one?

I like the convenience of having it done at the processor, but, after this last one when I asked them to look for the bullet from my ML, and them finding it.....they thought. It was a copper jacketed 280ish gr bullet of some kind, when I poured my own lead conical this season. Wrong bullet. They swore that the bullet came out of my deer, and it could have I suppose, but I don't remember seeing a wound in the hams of that deer, where he said it came from. I shot it in the shoulder and rib area. Seriously considering doing it myself from now own now.

Mine is mostly plastic on the outside with the metal auger and other moving parts. But it is ole the plastic has some small age cracks from dish washing using the heat. But it still works it is real old I got it from my mom and have had it over 20 years my self. It is funny that kitchen aid is not changed much in over 30 years and the price is about the same as it was if not a little cheaper.

I have always taken mine to a processor, but found out Sunday that my processor (a local butcher/meat market) can no longer process already skinned deer unless he uses a seperate cooler that he does not have as per the local health department. So out of neccesity, I brought it back home and thought about my options—I could take it to an actual deer processor, that has a reputation for giving you back someone elses deer and "jipping" you on the amount you should recieve, or should I do something I've never seen done or done myself? So, after weighing my options I decided to try it meself. I couldn't believe it—it was so easy I kicked myself in the tail for wasting all of that money for all these years. In an hour and half, I had a field dressed 120-pound buck quartered, de-boned and 45-pounds of fresh clean meat sitting the fridge. I will never pay another processing fee again.

I like that. Its really not that difficult, just takes some confidence with a knife.
I also think that is sort of completes the process of hunting and killing an animal.

In WI you can sell them for $3-$5. The leather shops will give about twice that amount in a store credit.

Had a friend in processing. I think he got $1 a hide. He may have sold the tail separately for another $1.

I finished up mine last night after it had aged for about 3-1/2 days. It made me hungry looking at the big cuts of backstraps laying in my sink as I was cutting some hind quarter up for steaks. It isn't that hard, just takes some time.
