Antlers in velvet are not legal to buy/sell.
Hardened antlers from legally taken deer are legal to buy/sell.

Interesting.
Definately not trying to start a debate scn, but how come a velvet antler cant be sold?

Definately not trying to start a debate scn, but how come a velvet antler cant be sold?
There exists a black market in velvet antlers for Asian "medicine". We do not have a season when velvet antlers could be legally harvested. With no way to harvest bucks in velvet legally, this aids in cutting back on the sale of them to the black market, it removes any loophole that may exist, and we do not become the place to buy and sell velvet antlers from illegally taken wildlife.
Believe it or not, the black market sale of wildlife parts is second only to illegal drug sales, and many crime syndicates are involved in this trade.

I get a bad feeling every time I see someone selling horns on CL just wondering if they are poaching. I know some maybe legal but if there is a market for something the crooks will always move in to cash in. Even if they are tagged doesn't mean they are legal taken. Any smart poacher would be smart and buck the system and get tags for his deer If i was a poacher I could have tagged over a dozen bucks this year.
