I just got home with 70 pounds of deer burger to put in the freezer only to find that over the weekend, while I was ou#t of town for my grandmother's funeral, my freezer died! I was able to save about 35 pounds of venison sausage from the last deer I shot, and 2 smoke hams, but I had to throw out about 25 pounds of fish my kids and I caught and another 30 pounds of venison. Worst of all, I lost 15-20 pounds of backstrap (2.5 deer) that I was saving for a family cookout.

Still cold enough that you can cook a bunch of it up? Can always cook and freeze again. Sure won't be as tasty as intended, but hate it to be a total loss.

Happened to me 3 years ago in Alabama...freezer was in the (un- air conditioned) garage and it went out. Lost a bunch. Buy a 10 dollar freezer alarm to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Here is one made by Whirpool

That stinks - well at least my downstairs disaster did. Hope you can kill another to fill the freezer back up.

I hate that, man! And sorry to hear about your grandmother. Send your family my condolences. If you need meat, let me know.
