But only sometimes. I've tried three different types of ammo but every once in a while my .260 bolt is a little hard to cycle closed and I have noticed brass shaving on the bolt face. Cold it be an issue with the bolt or just a thick case every now and again. It happens cold or hot

Have you very thoroughly cleaned the chamber and the bolt face? It could also be crud build up in the recesses where the bolt lugs rotate into closed position but I'd bet on dirty chamber

Yeah I think I did. I will pull the bolt and check the chamber. I know the bolt face is clean. Being that its so erratic ,like every tenth shot, really has me confused.

Buddy had a Remington 700 Boone & Crockett that would not eject ever so often. There were deep gouges on the casings. It turned out to be a very tiny burr in the chamber. Are you noticing any kind of brass shavings or scratches on the brass casing? Could be some kind of buildup.

Double checked cleaning and all looked good. Also didn't see any burs. Seems like its in the bolt face. I cleaned it and blasted all brass shavings off it. I cycles ten rounds through and each one has a mark on the rim of the case. And I have brass on the bolt face. Guess a trip to the gunsmith is due soon

It could be the inside of the bolt is all gummed up. That could/would interfere with the extractor which would, in turn, cause the rim to be scored from forcing the rim under it. If you're confident enough to disassemble the bolt that would be my next move.

Ok I will have to look into that. I think I can handle it if I can find good instructions online.
