Deer Processing; DIY or take to somebody?

I have done both. I have always like to get back straps and tenderloins and such out myself, make steaks or roast from hams and such or smoke them. But I feel like I waste alot of the trimmings and shoulder meat which is usually tore up to an extent because I don't have a grinder. The main reason for my question is this. Deer processing around here has gone up to 70$ or 80$. Why has it gone up so much? Seems like it shouldn't because of there is way more deer killed now because of the doe days and stuff than there was when it was only about 40$ to do.

My dad is retired. It gives him something to do. I try not to overload him. If I get any more this year, I'll probably field dress and donate.

I always processed deer myself with the help of my wife.

Always DIY for me. Get a grinder. It will pay for itself in a season or two. If you have a hunting buddy you can trust then go in on a grinder 50/50 and share it. I have the Cabela's 3/4 hp grinder. This is my fifth season using it. It's awesome.

I have been wanting to get one, I just don't know if I have time to do it. It is simple to cut the meat up and then store it. It just seems like having to grind some would take forever and be a huge ordeal that I may not have time for. But Im uneducated on griding, may not be as bad as I think.

Burger and steak I do. smoke sausage and summer sausage i send to Mississippi to have made

Why has it gone up in price?
Because people are willing to pay, their cost of living has gone up, so they are socking it to the folks willing to bring their deer in for processing. For the same reason you are paying $4 a gal for gas...................

DIY,buy a grinder doesn't take long we eat more ground than anything. If you don't like doing it I'm sure you could sale the grinder on here.
