I shot a good buck this morning @ 6:05 w/ my bow. I felt like it was a good hit @ 25-30yds. I went to where I hit him and have found no blood & no arrow. This spot I hunted in close to a neighborhood. My fear is that he went that direction. I could only look for an hr. and had to leave for work. I am at work now and can not concentrate on anything but that deer. This is the first time I have ever not seen a deer I shot go down in sight or just inside a wood line (Yes I've been lucky). This would be my 3rd buck this season and second with a bow. I won't get home till after 4 pm from work and have to leave again @ 5:30. This stinks!

I saw 5 different bucks this morning on the move. This is a great day to catch one guys/gals!

You didn't see which direction he ran? Hopefully you have a 40-50 yard piece of ground that you can account for his travel after the shot that gives you some solid places to look for blood.

How was his reaction to the shot?

Did you get pass-through, or was the arrow still stuck in him?

Be sure to look for blood up on the branches/grass/saplings and not just on the ground. Sometimes they bleed sideways as much as dripping down.

The buck was standing just outside of a fence/tree line. He ran back into it when hit. Lost sight after that. He kicked as the arrow hit him. I heard the shwack and noticed the arrow was sticking in him. I will add that a small buck was about 20yrds from him and they both ran the same direction. When I went to investigate the small buck was about 30yrds on the other side of the fence row. He blew at me and ran off. No sign of the big boy. He was one of those that you see and you just know he's a shooter. I have not been able to even eat this morning, so tore up about this.

If the little one stopped, maybe the big one didn't go far. Good luck to you. I'll be happy to see the pics when you find him!

I'm with BigD, if the little one stopped USUALLY that is a sign that the big one went down (within sight of the little deer). Its like they just stand there and don't know what to do when one falls.

If I was up there like I wanted to be I would come help look? Is this in Marshall county? What area? We hunt between Lewisburg and I65 (exit 32).
