Will it ever be my turn to get a first deer. I am on my second season and have yet to shoot an arrow or pull a trigger. Am I cursed? I see little ones go out for one day on a Juvy hunt and come back with a furry friend. I have seen deer and blew a great opportunity at a buck 2 weeks ago. More times than not I don't see a thing though. I'm getting rather discouraged at deer hunting because I have been putting in my all and time and effort but not a thing to show for it

You should have started when I did, back in the late 1970s. I went several years without even seeing a deer in the woods. I did not kill my first one until 1982. I killed 3 that year, and that was almost unheard of in East Tennessee. Be patient, we have many more deer now than we did then, your time will come.

If you don't have too big of a restriction on what you can shoot, shoot the next one you see. Sometimes getting the monkey off your back opens the flood gates.

I don't have any restrictions. Well except a fawn or a doe with a fawn around. I'd rather let those couple instances go for now

I hunted for 3 years before I killed one. I didn't even see a deer the first 2 years. I didn't grow up hunting and didn't start till I was 30. Had a lot o learning to do. I wanted to learn so I could enjoy it and pass it on to my sons. Be patient. It will happen for ya.

I started at 27. I had been squirrel hunting when younger. My dad and papaw used to go deer hunting all the time When I was little. I didn't have much interest then. My dad doesn't anymore but I'm sure I could get him maybe back into it. So far I have learning solo

It makes it tough, but experience is the best teacher. Some people make it look easy, but honestly you have the toughest of deer hunting situations in tennessee. You are confined to public land in unit b and that is as tough as it gets. It will take awhile, it is not like hunting private land in unit l.

Be patient, everyone has dry spells. I haven't killed one in two years, but that is going to change this year. Be positive!

I started in 1980 and didn't even see a deer my first few seasons. Juvy hunted every year, Saturday and Sunday and never saw one. I was 17 until I connected with my first. My 8th season.

I started in '90, and I maybe saw 3 or 4 deer in my first few seasons. Keep your head up. It'll come together.
