who has been to the Museum in Oak Ridge?

My 12 year old son is wanting to go to the American Museum of Science and Energy. We live in west tn. so it is a decent ride for us. I dont want him to be dissapointed if it isnt any good. So, tell me if you have been there and if you were pleased with it. They also have train tours in the area. We will probably do that also. And if we have time we might run over to Gatlinburg to check out the decoration.

It's great, really has a lot of stuff to do hands on and fun. I used to go when I was in school on field trips back in the 80's and have taken my god son and my buddies kids twice, just to have an excuse to go again.

Oh and skip Gatlinburg and go down the road a little ways to Sweetwater Valley Farms. They make cheese there and you can take a tour. Great cheese and free samples. Also the Museum of Appalachia is just outside Knoxville and has some really cool stuff there, including fainting goats.

It is a good museum. As you pointed out, there are alot of things to do, so it would be worth the trip.
Make sure you go to Big Ed's for pizza!

been there a few times but been a a long time since the last. Great place for Kids to learn. Great place for adults to Learn. Very interesting things there.

Big Ed's is great. Hit up Litton's for the best burger and onion rings around and don't forget Strawberry Cake, it's life changing

As a child, it was one of my favorite places to go when I spent time at my grandparents in the early 80's. My grandfather being a nuke scientist at K-25 and Y-12, was more than happy to oblige my requests—of course I got a behind-the-scene tour of some of the cool stuff at the facilities that would be out of the question now. Take him....I'm sure it is just as awesome now as it was then.
