I don't think so. One problem is the armed forces wouldn't provide protection anymore. obama would sit back and laugh if another country invaded the seceded states.

No state could surviv 10 minutes without federal aid. We cuss the federal govt. and then, the minute we need money, that is the first place we ask.

If the seceding states had a loose confederation and could use their national guardsmen, it could work, but I think it would take a serious crisis to take place.
