ok so odds are it either seen, or smelt me, maybe both. maybe i will not get busted next time, lol. i have never rattled in a buck yet, is now about prime time to do so? also my father in law swore he missed a doe sunday morning at first light, i found it by accident tuesday late am, it was a 1.5 3 ptr, its very sad and we both hate it. he looked for any sign but no blood, hair etc. my question is will deer freak out about the dead buck or will they not be bothered by it? this answer may very well determine where i hunt this weekend. also i shot a small doe tuesday after goin to vote, got in the stand at 115, deer on ground by 137.my wife brought the truck and my 5yo lil boy and 3yo lil girl done the tracking job, they had a blast and ive hunted hard so far this year because baby number 3 is due in december and im low on meat. lol sorry for the long post, just excited for my first one of the year, and my kids are so excited about the woods and learning about deer etc its awesome!

The dead deer usually has no impact on other deer. If there's a ton of human scent, that matters a lot more.

I had a small doe blow at something yesterday, and the other deer never even reacted at all.....they looked up at her for maybe a few seconds and that was it....

Kind of like adults ignoring a child....maybe?? lol

Yes they did react. They did exactlty what they were told to do. They looked at her. Then, seeing she was young and detecting nothing of importance, they went right back to what they were doing.

Just exactly as it should be.

Is rattling and grunting working for anyone right now?

I rattled in a 4 point 6 point and 3 does last weekend. The does might have been just a coincidence. But all 5 deer came in within 5 minutes of me rattling.
