Hit a doe low and lost her last weekend.
Went to check zero on my Accura and it was perfect off a lead sled.
I tried to simulate shooting from my ladder stand by shooting from a chair with no rest. It shot 6" low.
My ladder stand does not have a gun rail.
The range owner is a former competitive black powder shooter.
He said some people don't follow through when they shoot.
Anyone shoot low off hand?

Are you wraping your whole hand and fingers around the barrel and gun? If you do that,it could pull the barrel down into the stock, there for lowering your POI.

That is a bit excessive I would think!. Have you tried to shoot it just shooting off a rest like a sand bag just in the front and only resting on the forearm not the barrel. Just holding a rifle different will cause POI to change but like I said 6" is a bit excessive I would think for a muzzleloader. Just try different things and see what your results are.

I am inclined to think it is the difference in the way you are shouldering the rifle differently compared to the lead sled. Possibly the view point through the scope is slightly different as well when shouldered free hand.
Just my thoughts.

The lead slead will do that. shoot it off sandbags and sight it in and you will be good.

Just hold the front of the rifle when its it the sled. Muzzle jump on the sled is moving you poi up.

I don't really see the rest causing that. As with the lead sled the shooter has as little effect on the shot as possible. You think it might be the shooter????
