I had a buddy contact me tonight about his 50 caliber Encore shooting all over the place at 100 yards. He is shooting 100 grains of 777 pellets and 250 grain bonded Shockwaves. As you might expect, he is not satisfied and definitely not that confident in the field. I am writing to ask some of you Encore shooters to tell me what load combination (primer, powder, sabot and bullet) you shoot in hopes of passing it along for him to try. Any information provided will be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Andy,
Has he tried new pellets? The reason I ask is a buddy of mine was having the same issue with a CVA. The gun shot fine in May. Week before muzzleloader, and it's all over the place. He tried different bullets to no avail. Bought new powder, and problem solved.
I have also had the same issue with bad pellets causing a slight delay (barely noticeable) in the past.

Andy, Has he tried new pellets? I am not sure, but I will ask him and relay your suggestion if not.

the last encore i had i shot 150gr of 777 and tried the tc shockwaves and my encore would not shoot them i was lucky to just put them in a 12in circle if that. ended up shooting tc xtp mag in 250gr and it would touch bullet holes out to 175yrd. now i shoot the new fx encore and im running the same thing 150gr of 777 and xtp mag. 250gr and at 100yrds getting 1inch groups.

ended up shooting tc xtp mag in 250gr and it would touch bullet holes out to 175yrd. I looked on Hornady's website and I only found a 240 grain XTP-MAG bullet, but I did find a 250 grain HP-XTP bullet. Which one of these are you shooting? See this link to see what I was referencing. Hornady Bullets (bottom of page 2)

i shoot 90 grains 777 with 245 grain barnes spitfire. Tell him most of the time it is a scope problem. I am replacing a leupold today on mine that wont hold zero.

I use 110 grains of 777 pellets and 245 grain Spitfire with a high pressure sabot. I cannot push the bullet down with the ramrod. I have to put the ramrod on the ground and push the gun on the ramrod to seat the bullet. Another thing is primers. If you you a traditional 209 primer, the bullet can jump in the barrel and effect accuracy. I use the Remington Kleenbore primers and my Encore will stack 3 bullets right on top of eachother in the same hole at 100 yds.

I have an omega and shoot 3 50gr pellets of 777, and 250 gr shockwave. It is the most accurate set up I have. I switched scopes out a year ago and zeroed at 100. First shot at 200 yards hit the 1" bull. If I were your buddy I would double check the scope and mounts.

My pelletts would shoot 100 gr great 150 not so good. i switched to 110 grains of Blackhorn with a 200 grain shockwave and can hold a good group at 200 yds now. But you Must use regular shotgun primers not black powder primers.... Blackhorn is the best i have ever used .

I shoot 110 grains of Blackhorn 209 pushing a 250 grain Barnes TEZ saboted bullet at approximately 2,000 fps. I've tried every combination available and this one is the cat's meow.
