Hoping to hunt Williamson this weekend.

Any thoughts at what stage the rut is in Williamson?

Saturday and Sunday they ran does like crazy. We killed two of our shooters, one a 6.5 year old and the other a 4.5 both following does. I missed a big deer I was after Sunday morning; I am not sure what he was doing because he came in behind me. All our scrapes have been completely dead since Saturday. I haven't had a chance to get back out there in the last two days but I did check some cameras on Tuesday and only had pictures of 1.5 year old bucks. So I am assuming they are locked down with does. It is strange though, we have never seen them rut this early or this hard ever.

Yup, sounds like breeding is peaking.

Every property is different. You can go just 10 miles away and nothing has even happened yet. My dad hunted an extremely well managed farm just about 40 miles West of our place and nothing is going on at all.

But for me I think my main opportunity has passed on the property I hunt. I am satisfied. I didn't get a deer but I got a chance and that is all I can ask for. Late season for me is probably my best chance or wait on a massive front to move in and force the deer to move, but you never know.

I am just down the road about 12 miles as the crow flies from 156's property and I am not seeing any of the action they saw last weekend. My scrapes and rubs are still heating up and I'm guessing it should be happening this weekend for me. It is amazing how just a few miles can make. I have been in the woods every day since last Friday....
