I wear it on my own land when MZ and Gun is in season. I have walked up on too many trespassers to take a chance not being seen.

I'm on my land right now hunting. I always wear blaze orange, even here. Can't be too safe IMHO.

I believe it says so in the hunting guide. Becuase I knew about it.Some people just don't take time to read the guide.

Why should TWRA want to make more people aware of exemptions that make it more unsafe. Does the highway patrol need you to make people aware that you can drive unsafe on your own land? I am glad that TWRA allows for landowners exceptions for things but I would say they don't have to go out of there way to broadcast it. Just my opinion as I am sure that landowners are never shot by accident on there own land so there is no need to have it on. To be honest I would use it and make anyone that hunts my land use it.

The only way I would take it off would be when I got up in the tree. No way I would come out of it hunting from the ground

All joking aside, you should wear it. Safety should be priority #1. About 30 years ago, my father came across another hunter who was shot. The hunter who accidentally shot him went into shock and died. The hunter who was shot survived.

Accidental deaths have declined from hunting accidents in great part to education and blaze orange. Just remember to keep it safe. I've seen enough tresspassing idiots to know that even when you should have the woods to yourself, you may have an idiot close by.

Well, if you don't wear it, and you get to your stand well before daylight(with a flashlight) you can potentially see trespassers/poachers coming, before they see you. (Personal experience) Also, if I'm coming out after dark, I have the light on as well. IMO, and it's just that, an opinion, I'd rather not be seen by the group of trespassers/poachers that I contend with on a yearly basis, in order to call them in and get them busted.

I wear it because poachers also tend to shoot at movement thinking its a deer. I don't want to be that kind of deer. I have taken it off in the stand but will hang it on my tree. I'm hoping I never run into trespassers on my property but I'm sure it will happen someday.

I've seen'em coming in before Bow. I was glad I was concealed, up a tree, and totally unseen by him. I yelled at him that he was on private property and he stopped and just looked around for a few seconds. I yelled again that he needs to leave now! He finally said OK, and left. He was searching hi and lo for me, but never saw me. ;\)

I see your point. I probably wouldn't be hard to spot where I am. We now have someone hunting some property behind us so I guess I will hang some orange on the backside of my tree in hopes that they don't shoot my direction and force me to shoot back. ;\)

Do you have to wear the orange if you're hunting private land but are not the land owner?

Your tires are speed rated for appropriate highway velocities, but it's probably ont a good idea to let people know what they're "good" for.....you know, safety and all.

I believe I would wear my orange even if I were exempt.
I always make sure to remove it before I go back into town. (I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a UT fan.) ;\)

Deer don't seem to key in on it anymore than any other color. If you are a wiggle worm they are going to see you no matter what you are wearing.

I wear it on our own property. I'm not taking unnecessary chances.

Also, I hunt mostly from a ground blind. I always hang my orange vest on a limb or wrap it around a tree before I enter the blind.
