I found an old muzzleloading pistol, single shot, .45 cal, that my dad bought as a kit a few years ago and put together. It feels sound, and I'd like to carry it a few times this year. Any recommendations on loads for something like this?

It looks like a CVA colonial, but with a longer barrell. Only markings are "Made in Italy." Dad said he shot a patched round ball, and thought 30-40 grains of black powder. Would Pyrodex convert to about the same?

Would Pyrodex convert to about the same? I would start with 30 and work up. 40 may be alittle much. right or wrong i use the same markings on my brass measure for real and pyrodex.
