PRIME by G5 is my new love. I have had Mathews, PSE, and Hoyt and the Prime is the best shooting bow of the three listed above. I absolutely love it.

The best bow for you is the bow you shoot best with . Ask anyone on a forum and you will get as many different answers as replies . The best bow for them is thier current bow . That bow might not be the best for you .
What I do is go to a proshop that sells several different brands , pick out a few bows with the specs. , correct draw length within my draw weight range that feel good in my hand and have a good draw cycle and shoot them side by side . I pick the bow based on smoothness of the draw cycle , quiet at the shot , and stable at full draw .
Ditto all the above! Bows are like tennis shoes—what shoots and feels the best to one person may or may not shoot/feel the same to the next—shoot as many as you can without any predeterminations and go with what feels best to YOU.

Bows are like bourbons. I read all the reviews, but until I taste them it doesn't matter. I can spend $100 on a bottle someone gave great reviews, but it may not taste good to me. I've had my HCA for over ten years and it still performs great. Only shoots about 270 fps, but it is a very quiet 270. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I recommend shooting as many as possible. You have plenty of time before next fall to take a few on a test fire.

I have owned and killed with PSE, Bow Tech, Diamond, and Mathews.
I now own/shoot a Mathews Monster, but if I was getting a new bow at the end of season I think I would be looking at a Z7. You wont find a bow with a bigger following... except the Mathews Switchback.
If I was looking for mid-range price $500 or less... I would be looking for a used Switchback.
As others said, what works for some may not for you. Shoot them all! I agree you spend a little extra for the name sometimes, but sometimes confidence is worth it.
