I am curious if anyone here has or has had a non-commercial/homeowner sized meat slicer that they would be willing to comment on...............good & bad info. would be helpful
I own just about every other piece of processing/kitchen tools but that one, I am thinking about asking for one for Christmas from my kids, but would like to have some hands on feedback from someone who may use one.
Thanks

No, not a bandsaw.
A meat slicer like they use in a deli to slice meat/cheese with.

I have been looking for one also. After my experiences with cheap electric grinders, I have been holding out to find a used commercial grade slicer at auction for a good price.

I hear ya there, but the commercial ones are dang expensive and rather large, I am limited on space at the moment. It would be nice once I finish my workshop and get the processing room done.

We have one that we use to cut up meat for jerky and have been using it for 3 years and it is really great! I can't remember the brand but it came from Lowes I think.

I'm thinking about it, and it seems hard to justify purchasing a butcher quality meat slicer unless you do a serious amount of deli meats, have a very large family or are making it available for your friends and neighbors to use.
I'm not sure what the breaking point is, but a razor sharp carving knife should get the job done for for 2-4 people, no problem. Unless you just want one to be a complete butcher, in which case, go for it. I'd check around for a used one. A butcher shop recently closed in Memphis and they had a online auction of everything including a 9 inch thick butcher's block that I would have LOVED to got my hands on.

I got a cheap one from service merchandise about 7 years ago that works fine for slicing roasts and any boneless cuts. great for corned venison and deli meats. have seen them at wal mart for around $60. easy to clean and work fine.
