I see people that swear by Rem oil. I had issues with guns rusting after using as a protectant.
I've had the same experience using Rem Oil in a couple of my muzzleloaders. I had bought one with a rusty and pitted bore. After cleaning it and using Rem Oil I kept finding rust on the patches afterwards. I thought maybe it's pulling rust out of the pits that were in the bore. I found out otherwise when I used it on a rifle that had no rust in the bore at all, as a protectant
it doesn't work for me.
I don't know why I even tried it when Hoppe's #9 was working so well.

i've cleaned a many of them and never this problem,and yes i use hoppes to. rusts after 24hrs. done the boiling water clean to. Maybe i just need one of you pros to show me something i have't tried in the past 32 years.

if you are using pyrodex or t7 you need to clean with soapy water, dry patch, use some carb cleaner or alcohol swab the bore to remove all traces of moisture and then oil. Dont use bore butter crap.
Maybe you need to be thankful for the help rather than being hard headed.
Do the jb bore paste to remove all traces of rust/corrosion and then oil it good.
where is the gun stored?

Had a CVA Optima pro nickle barrel. Forgot to clean it at the end of the season next year only had a couple small pits. That was my fault. I am very maticulous at cleaning them, however I thought I had.
Have a CVA Accura stainless no problems notta. Best shooter so far.
As far as a pro and something you havent tried, how about a bore snake to make sure it is extra dry out after cleaning.

great guns, poor cleaning IMO if they rust up the way yours has. Ive had mine going on 3 years and never any rust issues. Take a look at your cleaning/oil protection products before blaming the gun.
Maybe if you didn't come across as a smart... i wouldn't be a hard head. just saying your aproach is non to wanting,if you cant say it nicely just don't bother to say it at all.

And the reason you use water is that pyrodex and t7 contain potassium chlorate which is water soluble. Regular solvents will not remove it. This compound will hide in the very pores of your barrel's bore and it reacts quite readily, in a harmful way, with steel. I've even heard some suggest muptiple cleanings over several days to assure complete removal of this stuff.
I have used pyrodex in the past but only real black powder now. For what it's worth, my cleaning is with a soapy water mix, wipe dry then douse with wd40 to displace the water, wipe out the wd40 then follow will oil. I've never had an issue with rust following this procedure.

I had a knight in-line(american knight) that had the same issues. It seemed, no matter how thorough, long or as many times I cleaned it, it still started froming small spots. I have "never" in my entire life seen a gun that horrible to keep rust off of.
I was more than glad to get rid of it on a swap deal for my TC Omega(SS) I warned the guy that took about the issue with as well, he didn't seem to care much.

when people are up set they tend to be stubborn and not listen to the advice they are getting.
jb bore paste it, oil it heavy and the next time you go shoot, just swab the oil out with an alcohol patch.
Ive had mine going on 3 years and never an issue.
Moisture in your area will affect things, if you have AC in your house, thats can cause issues with your guns.
