I was at a range a couple of months ago, and the RSO said he always shoots first, and then moves the cross hairs to where the hole is.
I have never heard that before, so I did what I always do, just what eas explained in the above threads.
Just something to think about????
This is what I always do only after bore sighting the scope by looking down the inside of the barrel. Usually 3-5 shots and I'm zeroed. I have bored sighted a scope only by luck and had them zeroed in with one shot.
After I usually have the rifle on sand bags holding down while moving the scope crosshairs to the first shot hole.

I generally bored sight all my scopes using a Bushnell bore sighter, then will even barrel bore sight if a bolt action to varify or check, I have a small gun vise/clamp that is adj. for elevation, so after the first shot. I reposition the cross hairs back to the bullseye and move the crosshairs to the hole, 8-10 times it is in the bullseye with the next shot. Then fine tune from there.
