We have numerous reports of persons out of state coming into TN and catching skipjack by the hundreds to take back to their northern states to sell for catfish bait. The take on the skipjack was enough to cause some concerns with our fisheries biologists and hence the new reg.

Not to mention as the Asian carp populations increase and compete for food, they may get increasingly scarce.

I used to catch them all the time many years ago while fishing for other species. Cant tell you the last time Ive caught one! Seems like they have definatley thinned out in my experience.
