MY cousin has taken the online course, and hasnt been able to get a field day appointment yet, classes have been full, yet he is expecting to attend one at the end of this month. Now what would be the penalty if he were caught hunting with propper licenses, but no safety course card yet?

It requires a court appearance, his licenses are taken until he completes the course, and all hunting priveleges are suspended until he shows the court that he is certified.

His weapon would also be subject to confiscation.

It probably isn't a good idea on his part.

He can unless he has already used his apprentice exemption. It also requires that he has someone with him that meets the HS requirements that can at all times take immediate control of his hunting weapon .

That was my next question, lol. So until that field day, I basicly have to be there as a coach, or he watches me hunt? I appreciate the quick responses, by the way.

Outside of the juvenile hunt which specifies a non-hunting adult, the person accompanying the Apprentice license hold may hunt as well. However, you have to be close enough to that hunter to take immediate control of the hunting weapon.

But, legally, both of you can have weapons.

I was told by a county officer, not TWRA, that you also had to be with them when they check their harvest. Is this true?

I don't think that would be correct.

I am so old Colorado did not even make me show a hunter safety card
I guess when you have been hunting all your life and that hunted started back in the 1950s when every deer seen was talked about for weeks it helps you understand safety and hunting .
