With their debt to "us" repaid it looks as if the loan worked well for Chrysler.

Sure it worked wait the loan is to stop them from going into bankruptcy, then they did go into it but now turn a profit. Back to dem math. The fact is that Govt has no business bailing out companies and that is rep or dems. There is a thing called bankruptcy to allow for companies to fix there problems without closing the doors. This argument that all the auto factories would just shut there doors and stop producing is as stupid as saying all airlines close there doors every time they go through bankruptcy. Or lets talk farmers how many times they have to. But lets get what we want by scarring the uninformed people.

But tony to O's defense he did not start the ball rolling just gave it a large push.

Funny, I don't remember Chrysler sending me a check for getting bailed out with my tax dollars.

Didn't GM and Cr both get some money that was a loan, (needed to pay back), and some money that was transferred to them, (not a loan- no need to repay.)? Seems like the loan was smaller than the "other money".
If this is true, it lets the companies say, "We repaid all the loans" which makes it seem like they gave back all the money that was provided to them from the government. Meanwhile, they were able to keep a ton of money.
Am I having a false memory about this?

It's called "business." It happens all the time. I think they call it reorganization, LOL. Either way it looks GREAT to the shareholders which, from what I have heard here, is what matters in the end.

Gm still has NOT paid back the govt.

They HAVE to DOUBLE their stock just to break even. THAT is bad business.

Christie was already softening up to Obama last week when he offered to buy his ticket back to Chicago. But why praise Obama?

"But the truth about Christie’s outreach to Obama is blindingly obvious: Mitt Romney is now running away with this election, freeing Christie to praise the president without fear that doing so will tip the scales."

Obama STOLE stock from Gm and , if I am not wrong, gave the majority of the shares to the very reason that GM was near bankruptcy...THE UNIONS.

Taxpayers own 500 million shares of GM. GM stock value will have to more than double for taxpayers TO BREAK EVEN, all this while
GM may fail anyway. Chrysler may be moved overseas, making Chrysler vehicles imports. The UAW was given, yes given, tens of billions to shore up their retirement coffers and given the right to opt out of Obamacare, which is supposed to be a magnificent healthcare institution for the masses. 2000 car dealerships were forced to close by obama, some having been in operation for 80 years. Profitability had nothing to do with which ones got closed as it was as political as election day.

Yep. The auto bailout worked great.

If you want to be taken seriously, please get your information from somewhere other than liberal sources.

The GM and Chrysler bailouts happened because of unions. It was another case of Democrat crony capitalism, pure and simple. Obama bailed his supporters out. Wow, that's awesome.

This statement represents how little you know about the bailout. What was so "GREAT" for GM shareholders? How is this going to look to the Chrysler workers who lose their jobs to Italy? That will happen.

Reorganization goes on all the time, but not necessarily after a bailout. It is commonly done to prevent bankruptcy, usually directly related to a union labor force.

You have no idea of the meaning of "business." Remind us again of how much GM stock you bought after the bailout.

Quack, quack.

The loan worked well?

They were sold to a foreign company; they are no longer an "American" car company. And their profits belong to their Italian masters.

They screwed the stockholders.

Explain how that worked "well".
