My son shot and killed a deer Saturday morning on the juvenile hunt. I approached the deer, pulled out the temporary kill tag and properly marked it. I then pulled out my smartphone and checked his deer in online and pulled a blank pre printed permanent kill tag out of my backpack and filled it out with the necessary informantion. I then gutted and transported the deer to a processor.
I love how easy you guys at TWRA have made this process, thanks.
My question is: Is there any possiblilty of cutting out the filling in of the temp kill tag when you are checking in and filling out a permanent kill tag right there on the spot? If not, then why? I realize it is in the regulations now to do it that way so that is the simple answer, but why not change it? Just means less paper I have to carry with me in my pack and less paper I have to print at home before I hunt.
I know, this is minor and silly but I was wondering if this may be addressed in the future for all us tech savvy folks. Thanks.

It is already a done deal (or at least very close). We have been working for the last year on a smartphone app that will do away with the need for printed tags for those using such devices to check in. We have a product that is in the testing phase, and that will be ready to use during the SPRING TURKEY SEASON.
In 2013 we are going away from temporary and permanent harvest tags to a harvest log. In addition to the smart phone app that self-populates a log, hunters will be able to use the current check in methods of online and the physical checking stations.
We will be coming out with more information in the coming weeks to get folks ready for the transition. I think you will like the direction we are headed.

No telecheck. The expense was too great. I actually like this app deal better.
