What is considered cleaning after every shot?... Just a wet patch followed by a dry?
Here is what I plan to do.... I'm gonna pop 2 primers, then take my first shot..... Then I will run a patch saturated with windex, let it dry, then reload for the second shot.....
Does this sound sufficient?
Surely I can start making adjustments from there.....
Thank god for kids.

Why pop a primer? Use a pick to make sure the hole is open. Clean with a pre-saturated cleaning patch followed by a couple of dry patches after each shot. That approximates a clean barrel

Popping a primer has been recommended by ML manufactures in the past. It helps to burn any oily residue from inside the b-plug. I do it every time I load a clean barrel.

Taken from the pages of the manufacturers of Dead Center bullets.

2. DON'T go hunting with a clean barrel. My best example of this is using Pyrodex RS on a clean barrel with a Knight Wolverine. The first shot out of a clean barrel can be as much as 6" out of the group at 100 yards. With that first fouling shot on the barrel, 1" groups are very common but on a clean barrel, that first shot can be anywhere in that 12" circle.

I have a cva wolf and shoot that exact load. First shot on a clean barrel with mine will result in a miss as well. I have chalked it up to the loose fit of the power belts. I don't think the bullet bites the rifling as well on a clean barrel and don't get as good of a seal at the powder. Just my conclusion anyway.
The work is mighty hard out in the gravel yard. I'll never be a free man so they say

If you want to hunt with a clean barrel then you'd better zero it in with only a clean barrel. When I was shooting pyrodex and 777 I had mine zeroed in with a dirty barrel because I didn't want to clean the barrel while hunting. 1st shot from a clean barrel in my Encore was about 10" high and to the right, next shot was right on the money. I'd fire the gun the night before hunting, then load it up for the hunt. Since using BH209, no difference between the 1st or 15th shot now and no cleaning between shots.

I shoot a CVA Accura had my first shot was dead center, but 6" high. All the shots after that grouped well in the bullseye. I always pop a cap before shooting. Gonna try to shoot 3 caps and hope that'll foul her out a bit. I use a wet and dry patch between every shot. Going to blackhorn next year to avoid alot of this headache.
