Modern day scopes?

I was told that the new riflescopes are set up to follow the point of impact on the target. I was taught this was correct for archery but not for sighting in a riflescope. what is the truth?

All the scopes I have (newest was bought last year) are the same. If you need to hit higher, you adjust following the up arrow. If you need to hit farther to the right, follow the right arrow. Is this what you're talking about?

In archery, I always followed the arrow(impact point..) with a scope, I alway moved away from the impact point.

If your shot is to the right of the target move the scope adjustment to the left.
Same if you are shooting low, adjust up.
Same as what BigD said.

I get what you are trying to say...............
The point of view moves in the direction you want the bullet to hit..........correct!!!!
Just as if you were adjusting the rear sight on a gun, you move it in the same direction you want the bullet to move, the frt sight would be adj. in the opposite directions as with archery sights.
You move the crosshairs left to move the bullet left, visa versa for rt. same for up/down.

I was at a range a couple of months ago, and the RSO said he always shoots first, and then moves the cross hairs to where the hole is.
I have never heard that before, so I did what I always do, just what eas explained in the above threads.
Just something to think about????

I have never heard that before, so I did what I always do, just what eas explained in the above threads.
Just something to think about????
Friend of the family always said move the crosshairs from the hole back to the bulls eye. Takes one heck of a steady rest to get it close.

Best way to sight in a rifle if you ask me. You can easily sight in with less 4-5 shots if you have a real steady rest and someone to help turn the knobs while you hold the gun still.

I put the 4.5-14 LR/T M1 on the 338 Lapua yesterday evening,,shots 6,7 and 8 were in a 1.2 inch group at 300 yards dead on,,250 SMK with 88 grs H1000,,major horsepower,,
from 300 zero I have 75 MOA of adjustments which should make a mile,,
