I worked up a load for my ruger 243 last year. The data came straight from hodgdon's website 95gr nosler partition,h4350. The starting load was 39gr and the max was 42gr. I settled on 40gr accuracy was great and all was well. Today I go to shoot and after the first shot the bolt would hardly come back to extract the brass shot it again same results primers were a little flattened. I have heard of strange pressure spikes with the 243 but its hard to understand why this lot of ammo would be fine last October and not now.

Pull a couple and re-weigh your charge on a freshly zeroed scale. I had a batch that ended up 3 gr over max one time due to something with the scale. I now weigh every charge 3 times.

Check overall length as well, if you are jamming into the lands, it will spike quick and high.

Also, you might check your case length. If they are close to 2.045 try timming them down to 2.035, resize and try, providing you didn't over charge.

All the above. That load is not near max, either your COL is too long or you have a load error. Flattened primer with that load is a heads up something not right. I run 43.5 grains of RL19 in my 243, 95 grain partitions, I get flat primers but back it off two grains and its gone.

.243 is hard on brass...sharp shoulders and high pressures anyway...i reload a lot of them. if you are loading the same brass over and over in .243 they become "case hardned" pretty quick. i anneal my cases every 3rd load and after 3rd anneal i toss them. this is not "the" reason for sticky cases and pressure signs but an other thing to look at. BTW i run 105AMAX over h4350 at +2 over book but i worked up to it very slowly to the accuracy node in my rifle....nasty hunting round
