It also shows that out of all the endorsements of the last 100 years their record show that they aren't the best at guessing who will win.
Of all their endorsements they had a record of 14 to 9 where 14 of those they endorsed LOST.
Doesn't look like a good record IMO. Their picks haven't bode well in the past Republican OR Democrat.
Hey,TD... the thread isn't about the Register's record on predicting elections. Des Moines isn't Vegas. It's about the fact that one more (of many this election cycle) liberal leftist rag is endorsing someone other than the Kenyan.
Try to keep up here.

Add in the Orlando Sentinel.... so liberal Castro used to make underwear out of the sunday issue.
Oh and the Tennessean...
Wonder why all the liberal rags are jumping ship?
Could it be that the businesses who buy advertising are hurting due to the horrible policy of government and the papers are suffering?
Could it be that circulation is WAY down due to customers rejecting the liberal drivel printed ?

Fishboy1, you nailed it. If 'why' is ever part of a question, the first rule to finding the answer is follow the money.

One of the facts is in a depression, recession or just down turn in the business, one of the things that large companies cut is advertisement $. This plus the lower amount of subscriptions will not prove good for any news outlets. So they may see the outcome of the presidents policy and know if it goes further it would be the demise of them. Of course the govt will bail the papers out buying them and making them part of the big govt. Hmmm nationalizing banks, news, factories I vaguely remember learning about some countries that the govt did this in the past. Anyone else remember this.

You're exactly right, the circulation of the Des Monies register is hurting due to their biased news reporting. Most refer to the Register as the "Demo Register" and stopped subscribing to it due to it's liberal views.

From the link. It is apparent that their record of endorsement hasn't been stellar. The ones they ENDORSED haven't done well because the majority LOST.
"Here are the presidential candidates The Des Moines Register endorsed in each election in the past 100 years:" 1912: William H. Taft (R) - lost 1916: Charles Hughes (R) - lost 1920: No endorsement 1924: No endorsement 1928: Herbert Hoover (R) - won 1932: Herbert Hoover (R) - lost 1936: Alf Landon (R) - lost 1940: Wendell Willkie (R) - lost 1944: Thomas E. Dewey (R) - lost 1948: Thomas E. Dewey (R) - lost 1952: Dwight Eisenhower (R) - won 1956: Dwight Eisenhower (R) - won 1960: Richard Nixon (R) - lost 1964: Lyndon B. Johnson (D) - won 1968: Hubert Humphrey (D) - lost 1972: Richard Nixon (R) - won 1976: Jimmy Carter (D) - won 1980: Jimmy Carter (D) - lost 1984: Walter Mondale (D) - lost 1988: Michael Dukakis (D) - lost 1992: Bill Clinton (D) - won 1996: Bill Clinton (D) - won 2000: Al Gore (D) - lost 2004: John Kerry (D) - lost 2008: Barack Obama (D) - won
Did they win or lose THAT STATE????
Once again you have PROVEN that some things go right over you head.
An endocement from that paper is good only for that state.
Go look at which peole thay ENDOSED and they WON THAT STATE in the last 40 years.
man, that went right over your head. no wonder you have a "D" beside your name.

Since YOU put the link up I guess YOU have all the right to take only a portion of all the facts posted and use them to make your point. I am simply using ALL the facts that show 100 years worth of endorsements from the Register (which is what we are ultimately talking about) to make mine. I see what you are saying about the (R) endorsement. I"m willing to bet someone said that there had been 36 years of (R) endorsements through 1964 and that since a (D) got an endorsement that year it meant only good things. Looks as if they would be right but for some reason I doubt they were calling it a "Liberal Leftist Rag."

Wrong again.
This whole thing went way over you head and the ONLY reason you keep trying to say it was a CONTEST TO PICK THE WINNER is to help Obama.
The newspapper is NOT trying to pick a winner, it NEVER HAS tried to.
It was simply an ENDOSEMENT of Romney over Obama.
That newspapper has a lot of clot IN IOWA. like it or not but in Iowa that newspapper will change some people's minds.
YOU are trying to make it sound like something in Las Vages where they bet on who wins and who loses.
As for those other sats , I saw them 3 weeks ago when looking for something else. That means they are old now and with a week to go things change.

Not that it will make any difference since Illinois is solidly in The Kenyan's corner, but The Des Moines Register had some company on Sunday. Story at link.
