See if you can hook up in the area around Meeker, CO. There is a road that heads east, creek to the south of the road, a few farms before the road goes to dirt. There is a 13,000 acre ranch that runs sheep and come winter they move them out. Crawling with big muleys and some 250-300 class elk. Interior roads are a bit rough. If you gotta go public land, north and west of Craig is all BLM land, rolling ground, no mountains. Be prepared for crowds-get way way off the road, you'll need good glass and some big muscle because your shots will be long. Pray for really bad weather or the elk will be up high.
