She does not need a license until she turns 13, and then it will be a Type 002.
If she hunts on a nonquota WMA or on the Special Season hunts later in the year she will need a Type 94 permit.

My son turned 11 last month. He has not had the hunter safety course yet. Does he need a Apprentice License since he has not had the course? He has killed 7 deer since he was 6 years old. A awesome 7 pointer that scored 141 7/8 last year. His mom and I are divorced and I just get him every other weekend and was not able to get the course done. Wish they had a online version for folks in my situation. Thanks...

He cannot hunt without the hunter safety certification unless he is hunting on land where he qualifies for the landowner exemption. If he did not use the Apprentice license last year at age 10 when his HS requirements kicked in, you can purchase it this time around. The Apprentice license is a ONE TIME exemption from the HS requirements and is good one year from date of purchase. It requires an adult of 21 or over who who does meet the HS requirements and who remains in position to take immediate control of the hunting weapon.
There is an online HS course. However, it also requires a one day field class which is normally held on a Saturday.

I think the proper procedure now is to contact Region II (781-6622) and get him on the list for the next field day. They may be through with them this year, and it may be around next turkey season before they hold another. But, RII should be able to tell you.
