So I've decided on a Tikka but due to the weight of 6.5 lbs I'm starting to reconsider the 30 06 caliber.
Has anybody shot or owns a Tikka T3 in 30 06?

I have for a few years, id HIGHLY recomend a limbsaver recoil pad, shooting beside my ruger 30-06 the tikka recoils noticeably more compareable to my 300mag

Got a Limbsaver recoil pad on order from Midway USA.

I don't but is it wood stock or synthetic? Wood should be fine but their synthetic stocks seem like flimsy junk to me and are very light so you'd definitely feel it. I looked at them last year and was impressed by how smooth the bolt was.

It will be nothing to worry about I assure you!! I own one and my in law has one as well, I also have 300 mag, the tika kicks NOWHERE near as bad as the 300 !!!!!

If you can find one in 270, thats what I would get but the 30/06 is good too

i've had a vias muzzle brake installed on mine and now the recoil is not near as bad

if you were closer you could shoot mine... mine is the T3 lite in 30-06... I put a new recoil pad on it..... However, I do not think the recoil is bad at all. I certianly have had other guns in simular cals that have kicked worse
