I'd bow hunt during muzzleloader rather than use powerbelts!I know of WAY too many horror stories with powerbelts!

I've never had a problem with them in my 50 optima they are not constant in my 45 Thompson. So I went back to round balls or buffalo bullets in my 45 and back on. I've also seen my son shoot a buck with a 270 fusion and we thought he gave it a heart attack we couldn't even find a hole never mind blood! Also why would you shoot it 4 times do you not carry a knife?

x2 Won't shoot anything but!!!
Yep - no problems here. A lot of folks don't like them. Never had to shoot a deer 4 times. Find that hard to believe. Killed a 7 pointer last year that dropped in its tracks.
I am sure there are better bullets but I can't see changing something that has worked well for me.

I am not surprised to see all the posts bashing Powerbelts. I bought into the sales hype from TV and have had no luck getting a consistant pattern from any Powerbelt that I have tried. I also read an article that compared them and other bullets as to retention on impact. Shattered into little pieces !! I'm trying the Barnes TMZEZ this year. My 2 cents, don't be convinced by what those celebrity hunters on TV try to sell you. It is disappointing that their promotions drive what you are able to find when you go into stores looking for product. Gander Mtn. had every variety of Powerbelt but only one of Barnes products.

I watched a show the other day talking about "the importance of checking your rifle zero". They showed him shooting one rifle and saying he was ready. When they showed the hunt he had a totally different gun. The first was blue and wood, and the second was stainless/synthetic. I had to laugh.

well not every shot is perfect but first shot did knock him down. i never had problem like that with old school bullets or even round balls. deer was excepionally big and i really didnt want to cut his throat. i shot behind shoulder then went and sat down. 10 min later still breathing so repeated who would think still alive. hard to miss at 5 yds. goodluck to whoever uses.
