I just use minnows, and some of the larger ones you can cut in half. Anything will hit a minnow: from bass, sauger, catfish, and one time I went and some gar must have came in and got caught (do not net the gar, those teeth get caught and is a pain to get out lol)....trot line and jug fishing is a blast..good luck
