Who all is going to participate and what are you going to make? I have some livers and tongues that have been waiting for an excuse to be thawed out. Thinking duck pate and braised venison tongue.

I'll do the pate, but not the tongue. It would be a good reason for me to open up a 2007 bottle of Larue Weller (BTAC) that's just been sitting.

You ever had tongue? Its really excellent. A good start is to go to a authentic Mexican restaurant and try the Lengua tacos or tortas. You think its going to be this chewy texture, but its actually very tender despite being lean.
Its also very simple to make.

Anyway, Hunter's Moon, at least the way I am envisioning it, is just an excuse for hunters everywhere to eat wild game on the same day. It might be nothing more than making a venison burger and watching Monday Night Football.

Hunting need something like this, so I am (singlehandedly) inventing a holiday. Feel free to post this flyer around Facebook etc and tag your hunting friends.

I'll actually pass by a taco stand that has tongue on the menu today. They have great food and prices, but I just can't do it.

Tongue has the texture of a slow cooked pot roast. It's pretty good.

I'm going to the river this weekend. I'll see if I can bag a limit of tree rats.
