Catman, I need to buy you a box of screw in steps. Your weakest point is your boards nailed in as steps.

I think I will take the advice about the screws and buy a few and drive them in. All I can bring out there though is a hammer and screwdriver, I am not exactly loaded up on tools. I built the stand with just the hammer. Hopefully I could get a few screws in there by hand.
I hope you are wearing the harness i gave you that thing is high! I will be next time! Lol

Like everyone said, be careful. Ain't climbing homemade stand with nails in it. They can slip out. Every see how trees move while the wind blows. I'd hunt on the ground before I hunted out of it. I've hunted many a homemade stand which are no longer around. No sentimental value to me.

When you get through using the stand, tear it down. Do not leave it for an unsuspecting hunter, or kid, to test it out.

Is that why they call you catman? You would have to be a cat to climb up there.

I don't mean to sound rude, that is a death trap if I've ever seen one. If you were closer I would give you a new stand, in order to keep you out of that one. If you are dead set on hunting it, at least take an impact driver with a lot of 4-5 inch screws and beef it up! The last thing I want is for you to fall and die!! I will at least carry a harness and wear it...
Wearing it up in the tree means nothing—I hope your wearing it from the time your feet leave the ground, until they return to the ground—most falling accidents occur as people are climbing and ascending! You may have to configure your harness in a lineman's style configuration.

You may have to configure your harness in a lineman's style configuration. have no idea how to do that. the harness I have straps to the tree. I could fall out on the way up or down, cause anything can happen, but I have a bow line so both hands are free, and always use caution when climbing, get a firm grip on the rungs, and I can climb the tree in about 10 seconds... basically I am not invincible, but have climbed much sketchier things in the past, and feel pretty safe climbing this tree, long as the wood pegs are new and fresh.
