Prob slows it down if I had to guess. Creates more drag.

Yes. But not by much. I have half dozen arrows in helical. The other half in offset. The difference between the two was average 5 fps.

Correct statement above. Helical patterns are also slightly louder than straight, or offset; however, helicals are also slightly more accurate as well. To sum it up, the more rotation will equate to more noise and increased accuracy—especially in higher wind situations.

Invest in a good Bitzenburger Dial-o-Fletch if you are serious about building your own arrows. Worth every penny.

No need in a jojam or bitsenburg. Thats a good jig. I go all 3 and I like my bohing better than the others. Been using it since they came out 2yrs ago.

I read something years ago that said right handed shooters would shoot better with a left helical, I'm right handed & do shoot better with a left helical for some reason.

This may only apply to shooting a longbow or recurve off the shelf. Not sure that it makes a difference for me.

More than likely but should be fairly close. Anything you change to your setup can change your arrow flight and point of impact.

I've shot left helical in both coumpound & recurve with the same results, actually tried it first years before I got into recuves.
Mite be a mental thing, if you have confidence in something you'll get better results with it.

I had to re-sight in my bow when I went from offset to helical. It changed the point of impact 6 inches down and 4 inches left. But, It makes whats lost up in speed, in an increase in accuracy.
