How many of you have switched to or hunt with them?
I have three now a couple 243's and a 45/70. I think I'm going to hunt exclusively with the 45/70 this year. As a matter of fact I just sold the bolt action I hunted with last year.

I like my bolt actions. I suppose if I want the "single shot challenge" I can just load one round in my rifle.

It's not so much the challenge it's the weight my NEF 45/70 weighs about 6#.
My ruger bolt gun weighed about 7.5# loaded.
I really like the light weight and with the SIMMS recoil pad it doesnt really kick.

I like a heavier rifle personally. My favorite hunting rig is a Ruger 77 with a 24" heavy barrel that weighs 10# with a scope. To me it just seems a lot more stable for offhand shots and I can shoot it better than a light rifle because it doesn't seem to wobble around. Maybe it's all just in my head, but that's the way it feels to me. If I hunted out West I'm sure I wouldn't like dragging it up mountains but it hasn't been a problem for the Southeast.

I have a number of encores and it is what I love to hunt and plink with and plan to introduce my kids to them.

I have had 2 NEF's, a 25-06 ultra and a 35 whelen. Had trouble with the head spacing on the 35, and NEF gave me a refund. Will own another, fun to shoot. I can't justify a encore. No matter how good they are. All your doing when you buy one is paying the salaries of all of the celebs that are shooting them now.

I dont have much use for a single shot, especially not at the same price that I can buy a good Bolt gun for!

Encore. 30.06 I really like the weight and length of this rifle. Very few times have I ever needed a second shot and then it was impatience that caused it.

I love my TC Encore. I have a 50 cal ML barrel and a 243 barrel. My 243 is the most accurate rifle I have.

I got an Encore a couple of years ago and love it. I have a 243 and 50 cal barrel for it, both shoot great. What he said but I didn't get the .243 until after the season closed so I haven't shot it yet. If things go as planned, that will change tomorrow.

I have to and not bragging but in my 30 some tears of deer hunting. I have killed well over A 100 deer and have only shot 2 or 3 twice. A single shoot just make me really concentrate on the shot. I can almost reload my NEF as fast as a bolt gun if need be.

I have two NEF, one 243 and a 30-06. I have killed several bucks withe the 30-06. I also have an Encore with several rifle barrels. My two favorite barrels are the 25-06 for the long range stands and the 45-70 for the thick stuff with the close shots.

I love my .223 Encore - and the ability to add other calibers by simply changing barrels is a real plus and cost savings. Course, I also love my AR, so it's more like the best of both extremes for me - single shot vs semi-auto.

89MONTERO:
I had a 45-70 in the NEF single shot, good gun but it was brutal to shoot! I still have a 22-250 in the NEF. I bought an AR-15 and no longer need it. If anyone is looking for one send me a PM. $150 with the scope rail
