I cannot agree more on the grinder purchase! May be a cheap brand but I bought an LEM Grinder during my 21 hour marathon Black Friday shopping that actually began thanksgiving nite at 7:00 pm. That, by the way, is my contribution to this thread: Black Friday shopping is great when buying hunting stuff for christmas. I "hunt" on Black Friday for my HUNT during Christmas! HA!

My wife has been making our own cleaners(Formula 409/Windex etc...), detergents for washing clothes and dish detergent for over a year now. The clothes detergent alone saves us a ton of money she makes 5 gallons of powder (about 6-8 months worth) for about 25 dollars. We have 2 kids...we wash a lot of clothes.

You can find all kinds of recipes for the stuff on line.

I'm also making my own beer ;\) ...but that doesn't really save any money

For anyone who has a baby... My wife makes all of our baby food. She boils or steams the vegetables and then blends them. This is good on two fronts because it is much cheaper and you know exactly what your kid is eating.

1. Do your own yardwork/lawncare.
2. Buy those home repair books and get some tools and do it yourself.
3. Change the oil in all your vehicles yourself. (be responsible about recycling the oil...don't dump it on the ground.)
4. Fish. Clean the fish, and then cook them. Catch and release is nice, but if you are on a budget...eat em up!
5. Sell your stuff that's cluttering up your house.
6. Rotate your tires at every oil change to get maximum life out of them.
7. Buy a book on small engine repair and learn to fix your own equipment. Cant start your weedeater? Then learn how to fix it.
8. Stay single and don't have kids. (That's the best $ saving tip!)
9. If you are going to buy ANYTHING, check online first to see if someone has the same item lightly used for 1/3 the price of new.
10. Drive your vehicle until the repairs cost more than the value of the vehicle. The average car in the U.S. is 11 years old. Try to be on the far side of that curve.
