One of the perks of being a teacher is FALL BREAK. I get this whole week off. I'm sitting in the stand til 10 then it's off to the dentist for a cleaning. Winds were up this morning but that hasn't stopped the deer. I came in @ 5:40 and waited patiently. Usually I pray during that early pre-dawn time and thank God for all my blessings. The whole while enjoying my surroundings of the great outdoors. The sky was clear this morning and the stars lit the sky. So far I have seen 11 different deer this morning. 2 different young bucks chased some does right by my stand. A little later 3 does browsed just out of range for 25 min or so. I had a grunt call and wanted to see how they reacted so I gave a couple soft grunts. The biggest doe basically ran to me. She stood right under me for 2-3 min (no shot). She then walked off. Never could get a clean shot. It's funny I sat here on Sat only to see 1 deer. Obviously it's more fun when you have some action but I just love being out here reguardless. This is my sanctuary!!!!

Not here in Alabama....they took away our fall break. But still I love being a teacher! Drivers education can be very very scary at times!!!

I love being in the woods in October. There is much to enjoy, and I am thankful for all of it.

Sounds like an amazing morning you had BigA. I hope this week gives you the buck of your lifetime.

I too have enjoyed the Stars, and the Sliver of the Moon this past Saturday morning.

Again, hope you get that monster!

Thanks brother that would be nice! But just being out in nature with my thoughts and the anticipation of what may come out is what it's all about for me. Now the MONSTER sure would be iceing on the cake!
