If the arrow was covered in blood, he's dead! Take your time, fan out and search down wind of where you think he was, you will be able to smell him. Good luck!

We searched last night and then 4 hours this morning. Blood trail goes then just stops. Best we can figure is I hit shoulder blade and it wasn't a killing shot. Still depressing and I feel bad we couldn't find him.

Call the guy that was on here a couple of weeks ago in the Mid TN area with a deer trailing dog. He was wanting to get the dog some experience and was asking people to call him with deer to find.

I looked that post up. Looked like he was towards Cookeville and the farm is close to Columbia. Bit further than he wanted to drive.

Well, a month later, he has been found....
Floating in the neighbors pond...
Neighbor called Dad and said, "I think I found your son's deer 3 days ago."
Dad went and looked, as neighbor had pulled it out of the pond. It was him. He had lived a month, I'm assuming, and died of infection and rolled into the pond.
He'd broken his rack, and was bloated and nasty. Dad didnt have anything to cut his head off, so he left him lie. I'm going to try and get out there to get the rack.
Even if I pull the rack, its still not the same as had I made a recovery and had the meat.
